What we collect

Your account basics (name, email), the files you upload, the transcripts we generate from them, and standard usage data (browser, pages visited). If you create API keys, we store only a hashed fingerprint - never the key itself. We also remember which site or campaign link first brought you here: a label such as "youtube", kept in a first-party cookie for 30 days and saved with your account - never an identifier. That's the whole list - no ad trackers, no third-party analytics cookies.

Your audio and transcripts

• Files are encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Processing is fully automated - no human listens to your audio.
• Your content is never used to train models, ours or anyone else's.
• Deleting a transcript deletes the source file with it, immediately and permanently.

Where it lives

Files and transcripts are stored on our infrastructure in the EU and US. Transcription is performed by a vetted AI infrastructure provider under terms that prohibit training on your audio and require prompt deletion; a fully self-hosted transcription pipeline is on our roadmap.

What we share

Nothing, except: payment details go to our payment processor (we never see card numbers), and we'll comply with valid legal requests - and tell you when the law lets us. Transcripts are private by default; if you create a share link, that one transcript (and its AI summary, if you generated one) is readable by anyone holding the link until you revoke it.

Flashscribe for Chrome

The browser extension is a front door to the same account, and this policy covers it in full. What it handles, and only when you ask it to:

• Tab audio - captured only while you press Start recording, only from the tab you chose, and uploaded to your account when you stop, where it is treated like any upload. Your microphone is added only if you tick Include my microphone. With Transcribe on this computer ticked, the recording is not uploaded at all: Whisper runs in your browser and only the transcript reaches your account, as with the site's on-device mode. The model it needs is fetched once from the Hugging Face hub.
• Page addresses - Transcribe this video and Watch this site send the address of that page or link to Flashscribe so it can fetch the media or the feed. The extension reads no page content and keeps no browsing history.
• Sign-in - it uses the session you already have on flashscribe.ai in this browser and stores no password or token of its own.
• In your browser - your settings (server, language, microphone default) and the state of a recording in progress stay in Chrome's extension storage and are never sent anywhere; nothing remains once a recording is uploaded or discarded.
• No analytics, no third parties - the extension talks to Flashscribe and nothing else.

Your rights

Delete any transcript - or your entire account - from the app at any time, and export every transcript as SRT, VTT, TXT, DOCX, PDF, or CSV. For access, correction, or deletion requests beyond that, email privacy@flashscribe.ai - we answer within 30 days.
